MIRI – A senior citizen in his 70s died after being attacked by a swarm of bees at a recreation park here.

The incident occurred about 3pm at the Bulatan Park near the city today, said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department.

The victim was found unconscious by the public, who had then alerted the department.

Rescuers who arrived found the man slumped unconscious on the ground surrounded by bees, the department said in a statement.

Rescue teams in special suits took the man to Miri Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The firemen destroyed the bee nests found in the trees using a skylift and other safety gear. – The Vibes, November 26, 2022
