KLANG – Celebrity preacher Azman Syah Alias was charged with four counts of sexually assaulting three teenage boys at two separate courts, here today.

At the sessions court, Azman, 41, was charged with two counts of committing physical sexual assault on a 17-year-old boy at a homestay in Kg Sg Udang, Klang, at 12.15am and 1am on February 20 and June 29 respectively.

The charges were framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 which provides imprisonment not exceeding 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

Azman was also accused of encouraging another 17-year-old boy to communicate sexually through the WhatsApp application between 4pm and 7.30pm at a house in Kg Meru, here on August 16.

The charge, under Section 11(1)(b) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 carries a sentence of up to three years if found guilty.

Judge Syafeera Mohd Said allowed the accused bail of RM20,000 for all three charges.

At the magistrates’ court, Azman was charged with committing extreme obscenity against a 19-year-old boy at a house in Jalan Sg Bertek, here, at 9.15pm on June 10.

He was charged under Section 377D of the Penal Code which carries imprisonment of up to two years if convicted.

Magistrate Amirul Asyraf Abd Rasid set bail at RM4,000.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Qistini Qamarul Abrar appeared for the prosecution while Azman was represented by lawyers Mohamad Zahid Ahmad and Fahmi Adilah.

The accused is also ordered to not disturb the victims, their family as well as prosecution witnesses, and must report himself at the nearest police station at the beginning of every month.

The courts set January 12 next year for case mention.

On October 12, Azman claimed trial at the sessions court in Seremban, Negri Sembilan to five counts of committing sexual assault on two teenage boys. – Bernama, December 7, 2022
