KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor Pejuang is open to cooperate with political parties in preparation for the upcoming state election, said Selangor Pejuang chief Harumaini Omar.

In a statement, Harumaini said the party is open to negotiations for possible collaborations with political parties or any political bloc, in preparation for the state election expected to be held next year.

According to Harumaini, this decision was made following proposals during a post-mortem meeting with the Selangor Pejuang State Leadership Council’s members and parliamentary coordinators on November 29.

He added that the party’s openness is to ensure a more balanced, stable, and progressive state government formation that prioritises the people over party politics.

However, Harumaini stressed that the party will not compromise its basic principles while forming a political cooperation network.

“Selangor Pejuang will continue to hold on to its agenda of battling bribery, abuse of power, and kleptocratic practices,” he said in the statement.

“Selangor Pejuang holds on to its main stance as a Malay-based party that is inclusive and moderate, without denying or oppressing the rights of other races,” he added.

The party is also committed to fighting for progressive and dynamic ideas in Malaysia, while fostering racial unity in rebuilding the nation’s economy and the sustainable development of Selangor.

Its final principle stated that Pejuang is determined to help in the formation of policies for equitable wealth distribution, sustainable environmental conservation, food security, poverty alleviation, racial wage gap reduction, and the reduction of development gaps between urban and rural areas in Selangor.

Pejuang had contested 125 seats in the last general election, where the party failed to secure a single seat, making the party ineligible to be part of the opposition in the Dewan Rakyat. – The Vibes, December 9, 2022
