KUALA LUMPUR – Parliamentary proceedings have been interrupted during the minister's question time with a fire alarm going off and orders asking everyone to exit the building.

“Attention! Attention! This is a fire warning! Please exit this building as soon as possible,” said the emergency announcement.

When the alarms blared, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (BN-Padang Terap) was about to pose the first question during the questions for oral answers session.

He was interrupted by the announcement at 10.20am and Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Rashid Hasnon said the rest of the proceedings will be postponed for the day.

“I postpone the rest of the meeting (saya tempohkan persidangan),” said Rashid.

Later, once the hubbub was over around 10.35am, Rashid told the Lower House that there was a technical problem and that the matter is being investigated.

Shortly after, the sitting resumed – The Vibes, December 1, 2020
