IPOH – Police have arrested the driver of a trailer involved in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred at KM69 of the East-West Highway (Gerik-Jeli) on October 29.

Gerik police chief Zulkifli Mahmood said the accident occurred at 11am and the 47-year-old driver was arrested on the same day at a roadblock at Batu Melintang Jeli in Kelantan before being taken to the Gerik police headquarters for further investigations.

“The accident happened after the white ceiling load on the trailer, which was heading from Gerik to Jeli, fell and landed on a Subaru Forester when the trailer was negotiating a bend. “Three other vehicles were also involved in the accident,” he said in a statement after a video clip of the accident went viral today.

He added that the 29-year-old Subaru Forester driver escaped unhurt but his 31-year-old wife was seriously injured and referred to Tanah Merah Hospital in Kelantan, while all the other victims sustained light injuries.

A 16-second video clip of the accident went viral via the @isusemasaviral Twitter page, which also shared news on the condition of the victim’s wife, who is pregnant with their first child. – Bernama, December 13, 2022
