SELAYANG – As of 11am, 13 people have died from the early morning landslide at a campsite in Batang Kali, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

She said some of the bodies have been sent to Sg Buloh Hospital while the rest are still at the incident site.

Meanwhile, seven injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at three hospitals.

Three patients, including a pregnant woman, are in the emergency department at Selayang Hospital while three are being treated at Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.

“One of the victims was transferred to Kuala Lumpur Hospital because of a spinal injury,” she said during a press conference at Selayang Hospital after being briefed on the condition of victims here.

“The victims here are for now under observation and are receiving the necessary treatment. Some of their injuries are quite severe… one of them has abdominal injuries.”

She also said the Health Ministry had coordinated efforts with officers in various hospitals and clinics, especially those nearby the incident site, once the ministry received an alert of the catastrophe at around 2.29am.

So far 25 people are still missing while search-and-rescue efforts with more than 200 personnel are ongoing.
