KUALA LUMPUR – The temporarily closed UPM exit toll plaza is now operational for all vehicles, according to PLUS Malaysia Bhd.
In a statement, the toll concessionaire officially reopened the UPM toll plaza after conducting inspections following an incident where a tour bus caught fire at the toll plaza this morning.
“PLUS Malaysia Bhd wishes to inform that upon further inspection by us and related agencies, the UPM interchange exit is now reopened to all vehicles,” it said.
However, PLUS added that the toll plaza’s leftmost exit lane would still be closed for repair and maintenance works.
Nonetheless, PLUS encouraged motorists patronising the toll plaza to practise road safety and obey all instructions and signages.
“PLUS advises all highway customers passing through the UPM Toll Plaza to drive carefully and adhere to all instructions and traffic signages,” it said.
Earlier today, a tour bus carrying 40 passengers caught fire at UPM’s leftmost exit toll booth, damaging the structure.
There were no casualties following the incident, and the fire was subsequently put out by the Serdang Fire and Rescue Department minutes later.
Despite the temporary closure of the exit toll plaza, the entry toll plaza remained operational. – The Vibes, January 22, 2023
