MetMalaysia warns of danger-level continuous rain in Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR – The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has raised the forecast of continuous rain in several areas in Sabah until this Wednesday to the danger level.

In a statement issued at 2pm today, MetMalaysia said danger-level continuous heavy rain is expected in Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran, Sandakan, Pitas, and Kudat.

MetMalaysia also issued a bad-level continuous rain warning in Tambunan, the west coast, the Lahad Datu and Kota Marudu areas, and an alert-level warning of continuous rain in Tongod.

Apart from that, continuous heavy rain (bad level) is forecast in Sarawak, involving Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Betong, Sarikei, Meradong, Mukah, and Bintulu, as well as in Johor (Mersing and Kota Tinggi).

Continuous rain (alert level) is also expected until Wednesday in several areas in Pahang (Kuantan, Pekan, and Rompin), Johor (Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, and Johor Baru) as well as Sarawak (Sri Aman, Pakan, Julau, Sibu, Tatau, Sebauh, Subis, Beluru, Miri, and Marudi).

In an earlier statement this morning, MetMalaysia issued a continuous rain warning (bad level) in several areas in Sabah, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor and Sarawak. – Bernama, January 23, 2023
