JOHOR BARU – The Local Government Development Ministry intends to include the proposed construction of the Larkin People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Budget 2023.

Deputy minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the proposal for the construction would be forwarded to minister Nga Kor Ming before being discussed by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU).

He said there are two proposed sites for the project, which are in the Larkin Industrial Estate (Dato Onn) and near Kg Ungku Mohsin, here.

“The budget will be presented at the end of February, so that’s why I chose to go down to see the proposed areas for evaluation before being presented to the minister (Nga) and (EPU).

“Indeed it is the desire of the ministry to ensure houses are built for the people, while the 2023 budget has not been presented, so there is time to raise some construction proposals before the final word is given,” he told reporters after visiting the project site at the Larkin Industrial Estate (Dato Onn), here, today.

Also present was Johor Housing and Local Government executive councillor Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

Akmal Nasrullah, who is also a Johor Baru MP, said there is a need to build the PPR to accommodate the density in Larkin and the state government has also expressed its willingness to ensure the project’s success.

He however explained several related matters including the cost of the entire project was still being evaluated. – Bernama, January 30, 2023
