KUALA LUMPUR – Former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has lodged a police report alleging he was assaulted by his wife and child recently, confirmed Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Azmi Kassim today.
In a brief reply to The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister publication, Getaran, Azmi said police received the report on March 1.
“Yes, (he did lodge a report),” he said.
The report was lodged by Musa’s lawyer Ahmad Faruq Sidik at 3:38pm on March 1.
According to the report, a copy of which was sighted by Getaran, the incident occurred on February 28 around 4.30pm when Musa visited his wife, Elly Efizahwati Abdul Jalil, at her residence in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.
The report detailed that Musa’s presence was to provide alimony worth RM5,000, also meant to be used to buy school books for their child.
During the incident, Elly voiced her infuriation over receiving a letter from Musa’s syarie lawyer involving a purported resolution of the divorce.
“(Musa’s) wife had recorded her husband without any clear justification to do so and had persisted despite being told not to do so,’’ said the report.
Infuriated by her actions, Musa attempted to take away the device but was allegedly hit on the head with a wooden stick by his wife.
After falling from the purported attack, Musa was also hit with a motorcycle helmet by his son.
“After the incident, Musa received medical attention at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and instructed his representative (Faruq) to lodge a police report for further action by the authorities,” said the report.
The report was also made as their divorce is still an ongoing case in the syariah court.
The case is being investigated by the police force’s Sexual, Women, and Child Investigation Division.
This comes after a video of a man believed to have been Musa purportedly involved in an altercation with a woman made its rounds on social media in the past few days.
Musa has since come out and urged the public not to interfere with his family affairs. – The Vibes, March 8, 2023
