KUALA LUMPUR – It is strike two for Siti Nuramira Abdullah, who allegedly insulted Islam with her performance at Crackhouse Comedy Club here, as her trial has been postponed again.

However, sessions court judge Nor Hasniah Ab Razak has ordered for Siti Nuramira’s medical report to be handed in if she cites medical leave again next month.

“If she still has a medical certificate, we may be looking at conducting the hearing at the hospital, or in her house,” said Hasniah.

The sessions court was told that Siti Nuramira was admitted to the emergency ward at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre at about 10pm yesterday.

When provided with a receipt of a payment made at 10.23pm, the judge said it did not indicate that she was warded.

The trial is set to resume on April 17.

Siti Nuramira was charged with inciting religious disharmony, after a video of her claiming to be a Muslim and having 15 juzuk (chapters) of the Quran memorised – before taking off her headscarf and outer attire at the clubhouse – went viral.

She pleaded not guilty to her charge under Section 298A(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which relates to deliberately causing disunity, ill will, or hatred on the grounds of religion.

She was absent for her trial yesterday, after being admitted to the hospital from viral gastroenteritis. – The Vibes, March 22, 2023
