KUALA LUMPUR – Umno's Supreme Council has unanimously agreed on the party's Perak liaison committee chaiman Datuk Saarani Mohamad as the party's pick for the state's vacant menteri besar post, reported Bernama.

This was confirmed by Supreme Council member Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, who is also deputy communications and multimedia minister, when asked by reporters if Saarani’s nomination was agreed upon during the Supreme Council meeting at Menara Dato Onn last night.

However, other Supreme Council members met by reporters after the almost one-hour meeting refused to comment.

A source at the meeting earlier told The Vibes that Saarani won the party leadership's nomination.

Saarani, who is also Kota Tampan assemblyman, was present at last night’s meeting and was widely regarded as among the nominees for the Perak menteri besar's post.
