JOHOR BARU – The number of flood evacuees in Batu Pahat continued to drop to 141 as of 4pm today compared to 263 reported this morning following the closure of two temporary evacuation centres in the district.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee, the two relief centres are at SJKC Hua Min and SA Seri Comel. Both centres were closed at about 4pm today.
Two relief centres were still operating in the district still, giving shelter to 37 families – Yong Peng Community hall (79 people) and SK Seri Medan (62 people).
“Areas affected by the floods in Yong Peng include Kg Parit Lapis Bangas, Kg Jalan Lama, Taman Melur, Kg Parit Amil and Taman Desa Suria
“Meanwhile, in Sri Medan, Parit Yusof, Parit Haji Ahmad, Parit Warijo, Parit Bangas, Parit Sendayun and Parit Seri Pasir are still affected by floods,” it said in a statement today.
It also said that Sg Bekok at Bekok Damn recorded alert level readings at 18.95m while 10 districts statewide are expected to experience rain this evening. – Bernama, March 25, 2023
