KUALA LUMPUR – Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa today admitted to endorsing a letter of support addressed to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over a project involving the construction of the central spine road project (CSRP).

In a Facebook post, Annuar said the application from former Tanah Merah MP Datuk Shaari Hassan – also managing director of Chengaljati Sdn Bhd – has been rejected as an open tender for the project was carried out.

“Thankfully, the PM (Muhyiddin) did not consider it (the letter of support). If not, who knows what other slander(ous comments) might surface.

“A letter of support is neither a verdict nor an order. It may not necessarily be accepted.

“When the people ask for support and there is merit to it, then it is the job of the elected representative to support their requests. Whether it is accepted or not is a different matter,” said Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP.

The Vibes yesterday reported that the May 22 letter, which was received by the prime minister on May 29, was in support of Umno member Shaari and Chengaljati Sdn Bhd for packages 2C and 3A of CSRP from Kota Baru to Kuala Krai in Kelantan.

“This project is done in the parliamentary constituency of Ketereh. Chengaljati is among the contractors developing a portion of the highway previously.

“I support this application and hope that YAB Tan Sri will consider and approve this application. Tan Sri’s approval is appreciated and thanks in advance,” Annuar had said.

The CSRP, a toll-free 347km four-lane dual-carriageway that runs from Pahang to Kelantan, is expected to be completed by 2023.

The entire project is estimated to cost RM8.7 billion and currently 19%, or 66.93km, is completed. – The Vibes, December 8, 2020
