KOTA KINABALU – A Warisan leader today accused Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor of inflating the amount of investments Sabah received in 2022, pointing out that Putrajaya had given a lower set of figures.

Warisan supreme council member Justin Wong pointed out the discrepancy, noting that while Hajiji had announced RM33 billion, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz had told Parliament that the state only bagged investments of RM11.5 billion for the same period.

“The chief minister is issuing contradictory and confusing statements to cover the weakness of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led state government regarding foreign investments into Sabah,” said Wong here today.

Wong then claimed that Sabah drew more investments when Warisan was running the state.

According to him, Sabah recorded RM12.4 billion worth of approved investments in 2019, based on figures by a Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) report in 2020.

“Hajiji should not give a fake picture of what’s happening to show his and his government’s so-called success, when in reality GRS’ performance in terms of investments (for 2022) was way below than 2019,” he said. – The Vibes, April 3, 2023
