KUALA LUMPUR – After four of its water treatment plants were shut early this morning, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said the supply resumption will begin in stages at 3pm today.
Early this morning, pollution was detected in Sg Selangor, resulting in closures at their Rantau Panjang, SSP1, SSP2, and SSP3 water treatment plants.
The Rantau Panjang treatment plant resumed operations at 3.30am today while the other plants restarted at 5.30am after the tests showed 0 TON (threshold odour number) levels three consecutive times.
Meanwhile, an Air Selangor spokesman told The Vibes that water supply disruptions were minimal.
It said in a statement that at 1pm, 861 areas in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Langat will be subject to interrupted and low-pressure water supply.
“Affected households are expected to receive stable water supply beginning 3pm today,” according to the statement.
Air Selangor will also coordinate water tankers to affected areas, prioritising hospitals and dialysis centres. – The Vibes, December 8, 2020
