PUTRAJAYA – Padiberas Nasional Bhd has channelled another RM20 million in donations to the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, which will be distributed to padi farmers in four states: Kedah, Perlis, Penang and Selangor.

The ministry said in a statement today that the RM250 special assistance for each farmer will benefit 81,153 registered farmers.

Previously, RM10 million was channelled to the ministry at the end of last year and distributed to farmers in three east coast states: Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.

The RM30 million is part of the RM60 million donation by Bernas to farmers that was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on December 5 last year, and is in addition to the Aidilfitri Special Financial Aid of RM200 given to each farmer that he announced on March 29 this year.

The ministry said the payments would be completed before April 14 for farmers with complete details.

“Farmers in other states will receive the special aid at the next stage after the remaining donations are channelled by Bernas in the future,” the statement read. – Bernama, April 11, 2023
