KUCHING – The search is ongoing for a 7-year-old boy with autism, who is currently missing, at Kg Bunga Rampai near Batu Kitang-Bau south of here, said the Fire and Rescue Department.

It said in a statement that the victim, identified as Andrine Johnnes Anne, was reported missing at 9.13pm yesterday.

“The victim was realised to be missing at 2.30pm by his family members,” it said.

It is believed the victim had snuck out from his house through the back door, which leads to a nearby jungle.

The Fire Department said a witness claimed the victim was bare-footed and wearing a red t-shirt and diaper when last seen.

“Efforts to locate the victim was carried out by his family members and villagers within a 2km radius from the house,” it said.

A search and rescue operation was immediately carried out last night and involved rescuers from the Bau fire station as well as police.

The search was conducted near the victim’s house and was postponed at 10.40pm after no clues were found. – Borneo Post Online, April 15, 2023
