IPOH – Heavy rain and strong winds late this afternoon around the Ipoh district here damaged five houses and uprooted trees.

A Kinta District Civil Defence Force spokesman said they received a distress call at 7pm about the incident around Manjoi.

“Two houses each were affected in Jalan Berlian and Jalan Uthmaniah here as well as another house in Jalan Kledang.

“The incident also caused several trees to fall and hit cars in Taman Silibin, Jalan Jelapang, Ipoh-Lumut Highway and in Lengkok Rishah here,” he said in a statement last night.

The spokesman said some victims remained at home while other victims temporarily moved to relatives’ houses nearby as their own were damaged. – Bernama, April 18, 2023
