KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s political secretary has lashed out at Perikatan Nasional (PN) for continuously griping over TV3’s decision to cancel the coalition’s takbir raya live programme.

Taking to Twitter today, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim appeared to criticise the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin-led coalition for “speculating” on the reason why the programme had been prevented from being aired live just ten minutes before broadcast time.

“Legal action can be taken. Do not make speculations,” Kamil, who is also deputy PKR Youth chief, said briefly in the post.

He also addressed PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan’s calls urging the federal government, particularly the Communications and Digital Ministry, to “come clean” and deny there was political interference to sabotage the programme.

“(PN) should also be honest about how many hundreds of thousands of ringgit (they) paid for the takbir raya slot.

“How good it would have been if that money was instead used to buy food for people,” Kamil said, suggesting that the coalition should “whine less” and focus its efforts on serving citizens.

Earlier today, Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general, said that TV3’s claim of “technical problems” prior to the programme being cancelled is “odd and unacceptable”.

It was previously reported that PN had secured a five-minute slot on TV3 for the programme to be aired on April 21, the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations. – The Vibes, April 26, 2023
