GEORGE TOWN – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim surprised the crowd gathered for Himpunan Madani Kedah by turning up at about 5.30pm – three hours ahead of his scheduled arrival.

The crowd at Dataran Stargate in Alor Star was clearly surprised when the prime minister came straight to meet them at the square, which is about 20km from Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Kepala Batas.

The event, organised by the state Pakatan Harapan (PH), began earlier in the afternoon with addresses by community leaders.

Upon arrival, the prime minister proceeded to greet the crowd, with many eager to shake his hand, before he headed to a nearby hotel for some rest.

There was a brief disruption when a heavy downpour hit around 7pm but it stopped about 30 minutes later.

After Anwar’s speech later tonight, singers such as Siti Nurhaliza and Amy of Search will entertain the audience.

Other notable leaders expected at the event are Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and state PH leaders such as Datuk Mahfuz Omar. – The Vibes, April 28, 2023
