PETALING JAYA – Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has panned lawmakers who have threatened to destabilise the nation, following alleged plans by some to topple the unity government.

Taking his concerns to Instagram, the ruler expressed his concern over “incessant” reports regarding the stability of the current unity government although six months have passed since the 15th general election (GE15).

“The rakyat had high hopes during the recent GE15 and voted for 222 representatives to bring back political stability to the country,” the sultan said in the posting this evening.

“But until today, the 222 MPs cannot get on the same page with efforts made to derail the stability that is being carefully built.”

“This is not healthy for the entire nation, whether socially, economically, or even for our standing internationally.”

Sultan Ibrahim also said Malaysians should not have to endure such uncertainties for long, adding that “enough is enough”.

The ruler also stressed that the economy must be allowed to recover, therefore the nation’s pursuit of prosperity must be prioritised.

Previously, The Vibes reported that there were rumours of a fresh plot by Perikatan Nasional to unseat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

Subsequently, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said with the anti-hopping law and the two-third majority, any attempt to topple the unity government would not be an easy feat. – The Vibes, May 3, 2023
