Johor PRN: Onn Hafiz likely to be BN 'poster boy'
The Johor state government is a Barisan Nasional government, not a unity government, said Zahid - June 2, 2026

JOHOR Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi will likely be the 'poster boy' for Barisan Nasional (BN) to face the State Election (PRN) soon.

BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahidi Hamidi, said the selection of Onn Hafiz, who is also the incumbent of the Machap State Assemblyman, was due to the party leadership's consideration and confidence in the capabilities of the existing Johor administration.

"God willing, with the consent of His Majesty (Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim), we will retain the existing 'poster boy', namely the Johor Menteri Besar (Onn Hafiz)," he said today.

Ahmad Zahid said that BN will continue to maintain a consistent approach in choosing candidates who are capable of bringing continuity to the state administration.

Meanwhile, he denied claims that the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly had created a perception that BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) did not have a political agreement.

“The Johor state government is a Barisan Nasional government, not a unity government. It was formed before the existence of the unity government at the national level,” he said. – June 2, 2026
