GUA MUSANG – Over 1,000 Orang Asli from the Temiar tribe in Pos Tuel claim they have been risking their lives daily by using a collapsed road in their village.

They claimed that the road collapsed due to heavy vehicles, which belong to a company that has cleared the land for vegetable and fruit planting and uses the same road to get to their agricultural site.

“In April, the road shoulder collapsed due to the frequency of heavy machinery passing through this road during the rainy season,” Kg Hanir village head Razak Rongging, 41, told reporters when met at Kg Ber, here, today.

Resident Asu Jenang, 60, also said that the situation has posed a risk since last year, especially early in the morning and at night.

Meanwhile, Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim said they have received complaints from Pos Tuel residents for the past three years.

“As far as I know, this road has been repaired, but it involves a long stretch. So, the damage could happen in other places,” he said.

He hopes for the relevant parties to take immediate action, as the matter not only involves the residents’ safety, but the people in Pos Tuel, Kg Haner, and several other villages have no choice but to use the road. – Bernama, May 26, 2023
