BATU GAJAH – The Perak government will focus on the agro-tourism industry due to its significant impact on the state economy, especially in raising living standards and job creation.

Perak Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun said RM5 million has been allocated by the state government through the Perak State Agriculture Development Corporation (PPPNP) for this year to explore the agro-tourism sector.

Several agro-tourism and eco-tourism locations, including the Perak Agro-tourism Resort, Herb Park, Masoorat Heritage Park, Kabus Trail, and Ulu Piah were involved.

“PPPNP with the cooperation of Tourism Perak is drafting a joint programme with other agencies in Hulu Perak focused on agro- and eco-tourism-based tourist attractions in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 202,” he said at the signing of the memorandum of understanding between PPPNP and Papan Agro Valley Sdn Bhd near here today.

He also said that PPPNP will also develop a similar project in the Papan area, which will offer interesting activities such as campsites, bicycling activities, fishing and farm visits. – Bernama, June 13, 2023
