GUA MUSANG – The Fire and Rescue Department’s air unit held a medical evacuation flight for an Orang Asli woman who has been suffering from shortness of breath since a month ago from Pos Pasik near here for further treatment at Gua Musang Hospital yesterday.

Subang Fire and Rescue Department air base public relations officer Mohd Hasrizal Kamaruzzaman said Asmah Asod, 43, who was accompanied by her sister Leha Mat Noor, 42, was brought out of the settlement using an Agusta Westland 189 (AW189) aircraft at 3.35pm.

He said the patient needed assistance breathing as she was unable to breathe properly besides suffering from chest pain, dizziness, and vomiting.

“The aeroplane left the base at 2.10pm and reached Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station at 3.10pm to pick up two Health Ministry personnel for the mission.

“The aircraft returned to Gua Musang station at 3.55pm with the patient, who was transferred to the hospital in an ambulance,” he said in a statement today.

Hasrizal said the operation was headed by the fire department’s senior assistant fire superintendent, Safri Rambil, and was assisted by deputy superintendent II Khirulnizam Jamaludin and three other crews, who returned to the base in Subang at 5.15pm.

“Despite the weather, with low clouds, the operation was successfully carried out in 3 hours and 12 minutes,” he said. – Bernama, June 17, 2023
