PUTRAJAYA – Data from a study which revealed the people’s rising support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) will be released this month, said PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
Rafizi, who is also economy minister, said data from the survey will fend off claims that there is a wave of shifting votes to Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the coming six state elections.
According to him, initial data of the survey conducted up to June showed support for PN is waning and there is stiff competition in Kedah and Kelantan.
The survey data also showed that the PH government in three of six states facing election is in a comfortable situation, he told reporters after attending a gathering with ministry staff here today.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 26 said the PN wave, which began in the 15th general election, will continue in the six state elections.
Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak was reported as saying that EC had received the official dissolution notification from the state assembly speakers of Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor as well as Negri Sembilan.
A special meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the election date for the six states.
The three states under PH now are Selangor, Penang and Negri Sembilan, while Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are administered by PN. – Bernama, July 4, 2023
