ALOR STAR – Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor appeared to have “returned the favour” to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after “advising” the latter to repent 48 times and retire from politics.

The caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar was responding to an earlier statement by Zahid, who advised Sanusi to seek repentance for allegedly insulting the Selangor sultan at a recent ceramah.

The Umno president said that politics is no laughing matter, and there was no need for him to engage in debates with individuals who “lack wisdom in interpreting facts and spreading falsehoods”.

Sanusi, who is also Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s election campaign director, claimed in his speech during the Jelajah Selangor campaign yesterday that Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was “memandai-mandai” (acting clever) by using the Agong’s command to establish the unity government.

Zahid had said that Sanusi should apologise for insulting the Selangor sultan over the appointment of the state’s menteri besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, as well as for launching personal attacks on ministers in the unity government.

“I am thankful for the advice from Zahid to ‘bertaubat nasuha’ (repent), which is encouraged for whoever regrets their sins.

“However, I wish to advise him (Zahid) to also ‘bertaubat nasuha’ 48 times and also to retire from politics.

“This is for all the damage he has caused to the people and country,” Sanusi said in a Facebook posting.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil had also told the Kedah PN chief that he will have to take responsibility for his remarks, which come after repeated warnings not to touch on the 3R issues, namely those related to race, religion and royalty. – The Vibes, July 13, 2023
