KUALA LUMPUR – The prime minister’s political secretary Ahmad Farhan Fauzi today said he has provided the police with conclusive evidence to back his report against three individuals for issuing and spreading false and defamatory statements against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The three individuals are political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin or better known as Che’gu Bard, Bersatu Supreme Council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, and blogger Raggie Jessy Rithaudeen.

The report was lodged over remarks made by Che’gu Bard and the speech by Wan Saiful at a recent event in Kedah pertaining to the personal residence and the vehicles used by Anwar, which allegedly belonged to a businessman.

The evidence Farhan provided today included the 10-year lease for Anwar’s house in Sg Long from August 2020 to July 2030, a copy of the grant to prove the lease was registered, and proof of payments for the lease.

“As for the Jaguar vehicle, VCQ 8055, it is a used car which is more than 10 years old, donated to Yayasan Aman in 2020. It was used by Anwar when he was not holding any government position,” he said in a Facebook post.

Though the car was registered under Yayasan Aman, the maintenance, insurance and road tax were paid by Anwar using his personal funds and not by the foundation, he added.

“As for the BMW with registration number BEM 1, it was loaned by a Bumiputera businessman and used during Anwar’s campaign. The car was returned to the businessman as soon as Anwar received his official car”.

Farhan also said reference could be made to Anwar’s sworn declaration on November 9, 2022 in relation to his other assets, including the plot of land in Port Dickson.

Putrajaya police chief A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz, when contacted yesterday, confirmed receiving the report, saying that an investigation will be carried out. – Bernama, July 14, 2023
