GURUN – Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail wants Kedah caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to clarify whether he has received a compound letter amounting to RM500,000 over the alleged theft of rare earth in Kg Chong, Sik.

The Pakatan Harapan secretary-general claimed that the letter, signed by Kedah Lands and Mines director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mustaffa and dated October 4 last year, was issued to the Kedah Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) chairman.

“I want to ask Sanusi, as the menteri besar and MBI chairman, did you receive a letter from Datuk Fauzi Mustaffa, Kedah Lands and Mines director at the end of last year? A letter requiring MBI to pay a compound of RM500,000 for stealing rare earth in Kg Chong, Sik,” he said in his speech at the launch of the Kedah unity machinery in Gua Chempedak tonight.

He questioned Sanusi’s credibility as menteri besar in looking after the state, adding that more disclosures would be made on the matter.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Umno president and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Saifuddin also questioned Sanusi’s credibility as Menteri Besar to look after the state, adding that more disclosures would be made on the matter. – Bernama, July 16, 2023
