ALOR STAR – Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub is currently undergoing emergency surgery at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital here after he suffered a brain haemorrhage late last night.

His media office released a statement saying that specialist doctors have confirmed the condition of the 61-year-old domestic trade and cost of living minister.

His press secretary Syakirin Husnal, who issued the statement, said that the ministry is grateful for the prayers and well wishes that they have received.

“We ask for prayers in this period of challenge,” he said.

The Amanah deputy president, who was supposed to officiate programmes in Kedah and Penang today, was taken ill around 10pm last night, complaining of a severe dizzy spell and vomiting.

Salahuddin was a former PAS Youth chief and had quit the party along with many others after a fallout with the cleric-led leadership of Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.
