PETALING JAYA – Muda has named the 20 candidates it will field in the state elections next month.
The majority will be contesting in Selangor (14) and Penang (three).
Only two Muda candidates will contest in Negri Sembilan for the Temiang and Repah state seats respectively, while the sole candidate will be in Terengganu for the Bandar seat.
There will be no Muda candidates for Kedah and Kelantan.
In Selangor, the candidates for Muda are Abe Lim, 27, in the Bandar Utama (N36) seat; Noor Faralisa Redzuan, 41, in the Pandan Indah (N21) seat; Aida Nazeera Abd Rahman, 30, in the Taman Templer (N15) seat; Zayd Shaukat Ali, 27, in the Subang Jaya (N31) seat; Azad Akbar Khan, 35, in the Kota Anggerik (N40) seat, and Kalyana Rajasekaran Teagarajan, 44, in the Bukit Gasing (N34) seat.
Ahmad Qusyairi Abdull Rahim, 34, will contest the Temiang (N12) seat and Muhammad Noriswan Ishak, 32, will run for the Repah (N36) seat in Negri Sembilan.
In Penang, Lee Kim Noor, 59, will be contesting the Batu Uban (N35) seat and Vikneswary Harikrishnan, 36, will be contesting the Perai (N16) seat.
Earlier, Muda named four candidates namely its secretary-general and founding member Amir Hariri Abd Hadi for the Seri Serdang seat, Syaidiyah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen in Batu Tiga, R. Thanusha or in Sentosa, and Melanie Ting for the Bukit Antarabangsa seat.
The party’s other six candidates are Muda information chief Luqman Long for the Bandar seat in Terengganu and Priyankaa Loh for the Pantai Jerejak seat in Penang.
In Selangor, Al Hafiz Ikhwan Mohamad Assad will contest in Dusun Tua, Siva Prakash Ramasamy in Kuala Kubu Baru, Afriena Shaqira Sariff in Sg Kandis, and Dobby Chew in Seri Setia.
“We are prepared for a tough fight. It is certainly not going to be a walk in the park for us,” said Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
He said the party is not financially strong, and that they have neither election machinery nor vast experience.
“What we don’t have, we will replace with high idealism and principles.
“I urge voters to give us a chance so there will be check and balance and no monopoly by one coalition,” he added. – The Vibes, July 22, 2023
