SHAH ALAM – The incumbent menteris besar (MBs) and chief minister (CM) of the three Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led states will continue to lead the state if the coalition wins, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The prime minister said Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will remain as the MB candidate for Selangor, while Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will stay the candidate for Negri Sembilan.

DAP’s Chow Kon Yeow will again be the CM candidate for Penang.

Anwar, who is also PH chairman, said the decision was made after taking into consideration the performance of the leaders.

He said Amirudin is among the most successful MBs in the country.

“We also welcome DAP’s decision to maintain Chow as the CM candidate based on his performance.

“As for Aminuddin, we decided that there is a need for continuity in Negri Sembilan,” he said.

Aminuddin was sworn in as Negri Sembilan menteri besar after winning a majority of 3,413 votes in a four-cornered fight during the 2018 state polls.

“PH has also since conveyed the decision to Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi,” added Anwar.

Nominations for the six states are on July 29, while polling is on August 12.
