KEPALA BATAS – Tun Abdullah Badawi, fondly known as Pak Lah, will return to Bertam to cast his vote during the August 12 Penang election.

Bertam candidate Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican told Sinar Daily that though Abdullah was not doing so well, he would make it a point to come back and vote.

“Pak Lah is suffering from dementia, but he will be back to vote.

“In fact, I have received his blessings since I began serving as a member of parliament,” he said.

Barisan Nasional candidate Reezal said he was determined to win the seat this time after losing in the last general election.

“Pak Lah had given me his blessings but I thought I failed him when I lost in the previous election. The only thing I want now is to redeem my victory in this election.

“I want to see the revival of Kepala Batas begin from Bertam,” he said when met after his walkabout in Kepala Batas town today.

The Bertam state seat falls under the Kepala Batas parliamentary constituency, for which Abdullah had been MP from 1978 to 2013. – The Vibes, August 1, 2023
