PETALING JAYA – Muda’s first outing in a Selangor state election has seen the party being thrashed in all 14 seats contested.

Not only did it fail to win any of the seats, all of its 14 candidates lost their deposits.

In Kuala Kubu Bharu, its candidate Dr Siva only managed 1,186 votes. He was up against three others – with one of them, Chng Boon Lai from Parti Rakyat Malaysia, also losing his deposit after managing only 527 votes. Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Lee Kee Hiong won the seat with 14,862 votes while Perikatan Nasional’s (PN) Harry Teoh garnered 10,743.

Aida Rahman lost her deposit in Taman Templer with a mere 765 votes. The seat was won by PH’s Anfaal Saari by a close margin of 467 votes.

Melanie Ting, who was trying her luck in Bukit Antarabangsa, only secured 1,462 votes. Kamri Kamaruddin won the seat for PH with a strong 16,280-vote majority, taking it back from incumbent Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who won the seat for PH under PKR in 2018 but later left the party to join Bersatu.

In Pandan Indah, Lisa Redzuan managed 1,166 votes, losing her deposit as the seat was won by PH’s Izham Hashim with a 10,591-vote majority.

Al Hafiz Ikhwan crashed out in Dusun Tua, managing only 3,110 votes. BN’s Johan Abd Aziz meanwhile won with a 3,014-vote majority.

Amir Hadi lost his deposit in Seri Serdang as Abbas Azmi retained the seat for PH, garnering 37,411 votes.

Despite managing 4,749 votes, which is among the highest of all Muda candidates in Selangor, Zayd Shaukat also lost his deposit as Subang Jaya saw a big win for PH’s Michelle Ng with a 51,191-vote majority.

Dobby Chew in Seri Setia only secured 1,357 votes. The seat went to Fahmi Ngah of PH with an 11,331-vote majority.

V.K.K. Raja, who was recently criticised for seemingly “fat-shaming” his opponent Rajiv Rishyakaran of PKR, lost his deposit, managing only 1,390 votes. Even PN’s candidate Nallan Dhanabalan lost his deposit. Rajiv retained the seat with an impressive 24,972-vote majority.

In Bandar Utama, Abe Lim obtained 2,496 votes, losing her deposit. The seat remains with PH’s Jamaliah Jamaluddin who garnered 39,845 votes.

Azad Akbar in Kota Anggerik lost his deposit after only managing 2,631 votes while Cheda Razak in Batu Tiga also fizzled out with a mere 1,908 votes.

In Sentosa, teacher R. Thanusha managed 2,357 votes while Afriena Shaqira in Sg Kandis obtained 1,341 votes. – The Vibes, August 13, 2023
