KUALA LUMPUR – More than two weeks have passed since the Elmina plane tragedy and the cause of the crash may be known soon following the successful extraction of the plane’s voice and data recording.

For family members of victims who died, it is difficult to have their lives go on as usual, as they are still grieving and mourning the sudden loss of their loved ones.

Muhammad Mifzal Mohamad Naim Fawwaz, the young son of one of the passengers on the ill-fated flight, caught the hearts of many when he uploaded a video dedicated to his late father on TikTok.

Sharing a longing to see his father again and expressing a feeling of loss, Mifzal lamented in the video that he and his father, Captain Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Mohamed Muaidi, should have been spending time together during the school holidays, as had been planned, but this was not to be.

“Assalamualaikum Daddy. It has been two weeks since you’re gone. You are supposed to spend time with me during school holidays. But Allah loves you more.

“I miss you. We miss you. Thank you for everything. Fly high Daddy. See you in Jannah (Heaven). Al Fatihah,” the boy narrated in the video.

@sumaiyaasbi This pictures was my last time spending with daddy. Daddy took my photos at the private aircraft using my tablet. He promise me to bring here again and ride a helicopter but daddy no longer in dunia. Daddy in syurga (Heaven). I miss him.. Fly high daddy... I see you in Jannah. Mifzal shared some of the last photos taken by his late father in a private plane.

“Daddy promised to bring me here again and ride in the helicopter. But Daddy is no longer in the world,” he was quoted as saying by Getaran, the Bahasa Malaysia sister portal of The Vibes.

“Daddy is now in heaven. I miss Daddy. Fly high Daddy. I will see Daddy later in heaven, Al Fatihah,” he said.

As at 8.20 this morning, Mifzal’s post has received 347 shares and 3,610 likes.

Naim, an experienced pilot, was among the 10 victims who died in the private plane crash on August 17.

The Beechcraft 390 plane which was on its return flight from Langkawi crashed in Elmina, Shah Alam, just two minutes before it was scheduled to land at Subang’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport.

In addition to the eight passengers and two crew, the tragedy also claimed the lives of an e-hailing driver and a food delivery rider, who were passing by the location.

Among the victims was Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Seri Johari Harun, who was also a Pahang executive councillor.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced yesterday that the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) audio of the doomed Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) was successfully extracted in the United States.

“The recording will be analysed, and a preliminary report will be issued approximately two weeks from now at the earliest,” he said.

The Malaysian Air Accident Investigation Bureau had previously faced difficulties in retrieving data from the charred CVR, whose memory puck was still intact. – The Vibes, August 30, 2023
