PETALING JAYA – The single mother who took to social media to look for her daughter was reunited with the latter in Penang.

Thanking the public for their help in locating her, Judy Tan took to social media to notify the public that Tan Yuen Hoon was found safe and sound.

According to reports in Chinese media, with the help of local authorities, Judy located her daughter at a hotel where she was staying by herself.

She also shared a photograph of them in front of the Penang Northeast district police headquarters.

Judy had earlier appealed to Malaysians to help locate her 17-year-old daughter, who left home on September 25.

Prior to the duo’s reunion, Yuen Hoon, who is 165cm tall, was last seen at her residence in an apartment in Batu Caves, near here. She left without taking her handphone.

Based on the apartment’s CCTV footage, Yuen Hoon was seen leaving at 3pm in a grey hoodie and white trousers.

Judy also shared a copy of a police report she lodged where she revealed that her daughter had also left a note.

The note read, “Sorry mum. I am leaving home and please don’t look for me”.

During that period, Judy also revealed that she had received six blackmail messages.

She believed the messages were from the same fraudster who claimed Yuen Hoon was being held by them and that their “boss” demanded RM50,000 for her safe release.

The messages claimed that the “boss” was in Myanmar and warned her not to call police or they would harm her daughter.

It is believed that Yuen Hoon had run away from home due to the stress and pressure of her upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations.

“Thank you, everyone, for your help in finding my daughter,” Judy said.

Netizens have since wished mother and daughter all the best and urged them to sort out their problems together. – The Vibes, October 3, 2023
