PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has alleged that suspended member Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman was a 'traitor' and an 'operator' involved in persuading more opposition MPs to defect.
The Machang MP claimed that this came to light when Suhaili, who is MP for Labuan, apparently called Bersatu members and tried to entice them to support the prime minister.
"He was caught in the act. He called a Bersatu MP during a party meeting, not realising that party secretary-general, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was there.
"Suhaili had earlier accused me of creating this fictional Datuk Botak character, but it is real and now he is also involved in trying to persuade our MPs," he told a press conference in Parliament today.
On earlier claims that Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, a former political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was involved in enticing MPs to back the government, Wan Fayhsal said he was merely reading out a police complaint filed by a Bersatu Youth leader.
"I welcome Farhash to lodge a police report and since he has denied the claims, it is now up to the police to investigate," he added.
Four Bersatu MPs have over the past month declared their backing for Anwar, stressing that they were doing so to help their constituents and help enable much-needed development and funding for their respective areas.
They are Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, Suhaili, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, and Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim. – The Vibes, November 15, 2023
