IF you have ever wondered what it is like to walk in 12-inch platform heels, with four layers of falsies stuck to your eyelids, whilst belting out songs and saucy banter to an appreciative audience – this week on Beyond Breakfast, Shazmin talks to an articulate and unabashed drag performer, Rozz.
Rozz is a versatile singer whose musical style is anything but predictable, oozing homage to the greats that influenced him like Barbra Streisand, Joan Sutherland, Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones, and Diamanda Galas.
But how did his career begin? What did his conservative family think about his choices and this lifestyle? Is there a future for drag queens in Malaysia?
Not fussed about pronouns, Rozz invites us into his world and addresses some of the biggest misconceptions people have about drag queens, gender and sexual stereotypes and why knowing who you are is more important than how you present. – The Vibes, June 21, 2022
