MIXED doubles shuttlers Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei stormed into the Olympic Games quarter-finals, topping their group after winning all three matches.

After having qualified for the quarter-finals, Tang Jie and Ee Wei defeated the second seeds Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping of China 17-21, 21-15, 21-16 in an hour and five minutes.

This was the world No. 9 pair's second victory over Feng and Huang in four meetings and their first success this year.

Earlier, the Malaysians had beaten Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai of the US, and Terry Hee and Jessica Tan of Singapore in straight games.

They now await the quarter-final draw to see who their opponents will be. - 29 July 2024
