A PHOTOGRAPH of Pearly Tan comforting her partner, M. Thinaah after the pair went down to China in the recent Japan Open has won the hearts of Malaysians across the country.

Netizens shared comforting words, with many saying that the pair's success in reaching the finals was already a major achievement and something the country was proud of.

"There is nothing to cry about...the two of you have already achieved so much.

"Continue training hard and we can beat them the next time," said netizens.

Pearly and Thinaah went down 15-21, 14-21 to world number one Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning of China in the 2025 final in Tokyo.

It was the fourth win for Sheng Shu-Tan Ning against Pearly-Thinaah in five encounters so far.

They last met at the Indonesia Open final last month where the Chinese pair prevailed in three games. - July 24, 2025
