PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has conveyed his best wishes to Malaysia’s athletes as they embark on their campaign at the SEA Games Thailand 2025, which officially kicked off today.

“Compete with focus, calmness and confidence. The prayers of all Malaysians accompany your every step,” the Prime Minister posted on social media, expressing his support for the national contingent.

The biennial Southeast Asian Games will run until December 20, while the ASEAN Para Games 2025 are scheduled from January 20 to 26, 2026.

Malaysia has dispatched a total of 1,142 athletes and 515 officials to compete in the SEA Games, alongside 236 athletes and 117 officials for the upcoming ASEAN Para Games.

Malaysia has set an ambitious target of securing 200 medals at the SEA Games, with some competitions having already commenced earlier this week.

The Prime Minister’s encouragement reflects the nation’s hope and confidence in its athletes’ capabilities, as they strive to excel on the regional sporting stage.

This year’s Games provide a platform not only for sporting excellence but also for fostering unity and national pride, as Malaysian athletes represent the country in a broad array of disciplines against regional rivals. - December 9, 2025
