The country's top women's doubles pair, Pearly Tan-M Thinaah, continued their excellent form as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the All England badminton championship early this morning, defeating the South Korean pair of Lee Seo Jin and Lee Yeon Woo.

The world number two pair did not face any major problems in ending the challenge of their opponents, whom they met for the first time when they won 21-14, 21-14 in 43 minutes in Birmingham.

Thinaah said they were satisfied with the victory, but admitted that there were still several aspects of their game that needed to be improved, especially in terms of defence.

"We are very happy with today's victory. But there are still many things that we need to improve, especially in terms of defence.

"There were a few shots that we were not prepared for when the opponent pressed. However, overall, many positives can be taken, and we will learn from the negatives," she told the Badminton World Federation.

Meanwhile, Pearly explained that facing tall Korean players gave them a bit of a challenge, especially when in front of the net.

"For today's match, the tall players made a bit of a difference. Her shots are quite varied; some are soft, and some are sharp.

“She also has an advantage when she is in front of the net, so when defending, we have to make sure the shuttlecock goes past her height, and that is quite a challenge for us,” she said. – March 6, 2026
