KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) have a busy seven weeks ahead as they have a series of events planned. 

From National Arbiter Seminars to Online, Hybrid and Over The Board tournaments, potential FIDE (International Chess Federation) Rated events are also in the mix. 

The first event, which will be held on the last day of February, is the MCF Online Blitz Tournament Q1 2021.

With Rm1,000 set aside for the winners, contestants will be playing 11 rounds, with 5 minutes to finish; all under the watchful eyes of webcams throughout their play on the Tornelo playing platform. 

Following this event is one organized by the National Arbiter Seminar by the Kedah Chess Club which will take place from the 5th-7th of March. 

Another time-controlled tournament will be held on the 13th and 14th of March. 

The Selangor State XTiv series – Selangor XTiv Virtual Chess 2021 – Series 1, includes the Junior U12, Junior U18, Ladies and Open events, all with the time control of 8 minutes + 2 seconds played over 8 rounds Swiss.

Three more events are in the works of being finalized by the federation;  KUPTM National Hybrid Online Individual Open & Challenger Chess Championship 2021, MCF Federal Territory Classical Chess Championship 2021 and Series 2 of the Selangor XTiv Virtual Chess 2021.
