PUTRAJAYA – Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin will relinquish his role as the Malaysian Football League (MFL) president as the first step after retaining his position as the president of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) today.

Hamidin is currently shouldering the top post in MFL and is ready to quit to focus better on his role as the top man in the national body.

“I need to give my 100% for FAM and for that to happen, I want to quit MFL. I think that this is the right time to announce it. However, I will not leave just like that as I would do a restructuring first and then I will leave it to the MFL board members to pick the next president.

“The board can select who they want but I assure you that nobody from the FAM Exco will become the MFL president. I want them to put in 150% with FAM and not get distracted,” he said during the press conference at the Zenith hotel in Putrajaya.

According to Hamidin, despite the fact that MFL has suffered severely due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he has managed to stabilize the organisation in the last two years that he was in charge, adding that the next person who comes in should be able to further improve the MFL.

He said that he has a big and heavy responsibility as the president of FAM with the F:30 Roadmap, National teams, Futsal teams, and the development of the FAM headquarters in Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, Hamidin expects his Exco members to get straight to work as there is no time to celebrate their victory.

“No time to party. It is straight to work for everyone including myself.  I will set Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and introduce the ‘report card’ for all Exco members, including myself, so that we can know how everyone has performed from time-to-time,” he said.

At the same time, Hamidin was happy with the process of the election and believed that the selected Exco members are the right people for the job as he added that teamwork is the key to FAM’s success.

“I am a strong believer of teamwork and hard work and I expect it from my new team members. They are here for a reason and they will also need to carry the responsibility of moving Malaysian football forward. I cannot do it all myself.

“I will also create a presidential task force and also launch the football tourism industry, but further announcement will be made soon after my discussion with my team members,” he said. – The Vibes, March 13, 2021.
