KUALA LUMPUR - Penang FC needed a late goal, courtesy of a header by Anselmo Arruda da Silva, to eke out a face-saving 1-1 draw with Sabah FC in the Super League at the City Stadium in George Town on Sunday.

The result sees Penang FC remain in fourth spot in the 12-team standings with 15 points, the same as third-placed Terengganu, after eight matches while Sabah are third from bottom with six points.

The match was evenly fought in the scoreless first half before the visitors finally broke the deadlock through Indonesian international Saddil Ramdani, who let fly a screamer from outside the box in the 52nd minute.

However, Penang FC, who have only lost once so far this season, were not to be denied and it was left to Arruda da Silva, or better known as Casagrande, to equalise when he headed home a corner floated in by substitute Mohammad Amer Azahar in the 86th minute.

Meanwhile, in Premier League action, Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) climbed to second spot despite a 0-0 draw with Selangor FC 2 at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin.,

In another match, an own goal by Amirul Ashraf Ariffin two minutes after Adib Abdul Ra’op's 50th-minute opener for Perak FC II saw them being held to a 1-1 draw by PDRM FC at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Cheras. - Bernama, April 12, 2021.
