KUALA LUMPUR - Now that the national bowlers have all been certified to be COVID-19 negative, the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) are awaiting the green light from the National Sports Council (NSC) for the players to resume training.
MTBC secretary-general Maradona Chok, when contacted, said all the players suspected to be close contacts of an infected junior bowler had undergone their first swab test on Tuesday.
He also confirmed that national junior coach Azidi Ameran had been warded after testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Azidi, who is the husband of national bowling queen Shalin Zulkifli, is reported to have shown no symptoms but had been warded for the purpose of quarantine and surveillance as he is considered to be in the high-risk group.
"All 34 bowlers and three national coaches have been certified negative and have been undergoing quarantine since April 19. They are expected to complete their quarantine period next Tuesday (April 27) or Wednesday (April 28).
"We are waiting for the NSC to give us the dates for the second swab tests and training will resume as usual with strict compliance of the standard operating procedure (SOP)… probably after another two more weeks depending on the NSC (results),” he told Bernama. - Bernama. April 23, 2021
