KUALA LUMPUR – National squash player, S. Sivasangari enters the second round after defeating Sana Ibrahim from Egypt 11-9, 11-2, 11-8 at the PSA World Championships 2020-2021 in Chicago yesterday.
The 22-year-old Sivasangari will now face world number 14, Nele Gilis, of Belgium tomorrow. Earlier, Nele defeated Nicole Bunyan of Canada, 11-3, 11-2, 11-4.
At the same time, Ng Eain Yow also progressed to the next round after overpowering Adrian Waller of England, 11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5.
However, Eain Yow’s second round match is expected to be tough as she will face the top seed, and world number 1, Ali Farag of Egypt after the latter beat Faraz Khan of America.
Meanwhile, Ivan Yuen was easily knocked out by world’s number 8, Diego Elias, of Peru, 9-11, 4-11, 4-11. Diego will go against Mathieu Castagnet of France who beat Leonel Cardenas of Mexico, 11-7, 11-3, 11-7.
Three more Malaysian players are scheduled to be in action this evening.
They are Mohammad Syafiq Kamal, who is set to face Borja Golan of Spain, followed by Low Wee Wern who will go against Nadia Pfitster of Switzerland and Rachel Arnold who will square off with Farida Mohamed of Egypt. – Bernama July 15, 2021
