The world’s biggest cricket league for the physically challenged, held recently on the basis of the IPL, the Divyang Premier League is going to be even more entertaining from the next edition.

This league was started in the month of April this year. After the grand success of this league, it was decided by the organizer Divyang Cricket Control Board of India that the Divyang Premier League will be organized every year like IPL. This tournament is very much famous and discussed in the world of physically challenged cricket like IPL all over the world.

Haroon Rasheed, General Secretary, Divyang Cricket Control Board of India said- “After the suggestion of the office bearers of the DPL Committee and the Divyang Cricket Control Board of India, it is decided that from the next edition of DPL, 8 teams will participate in the Divyang Premier League instead of 6 teams and each team five disabled players from across the world will participate in the league.”

The purpose behind organizing DPL is to give the same platform to the Divyangjan (Disabled) players as the normal players get. The Divyang Premier League Season 1 was played at the Sharjah International Stadium, Sharjah, UAE.

Where international players get the opportunity to play, the same opportunity was given to disabled players. It is worth noting that this year there was live streaming of this tournament with 16 cameras. The tournament was highly appreciated in the world for presenting the best production in the field of Divyangjan (Disability) cricket.

Ghazal Khan, CEO of Divyang Cricket Control Board of India and DPL said- “Organizing Divyangjan cricket in the country is a big challenge.

DPL Season 1 was organized at an international level and we faced many circumstances, but beyond all circumstances, the tournament was a huge success. From the next edition, disabled cricketers from all over the world will participate in this tournament and its beauty will increase even more. We hope more companies will come forward to do this noble cause and contribute to writing the history of cricket for the differently-abled just as MPL, Agarkar Centre of Excellence and legend actor Kamal Haasan etc. contributed in DPL Season 1.” - The Vibes, 21 July. 2021
