TERENGGANU – Terengganu FC head coach, Nafuzi Zain admitted his team has a rather slim chance to secure the second spot in the Super League this season following a shocking 2-1 defeat to UiTM FC yesterday.

The defeat also means Terengganu has lost three consecutive matches, after losing 1-0 to Melaka United and 1-0 to Johor Darul Ta’zim FC (JDT FC).

Nafuzi said they must win all three remaining matches in order to secure the second spot.

“For me, we have to win game by game because if we win, then we will automatically be on top,” he told reporters after the match against the UiTM FC at the UiTM Stadium, yesterday.

“We have lost three matches and I think we should not lose any more point after this.”

The Turtles were trailing as early as the 4th minute after poor defence allowed UiTM forward, Arif Anwar to score the first goal of the game, but Terengganu managed to equalize through Lee Tuck’s penalty in the 38th minute.

However, Terengganu was left exposed again behind as UiTM forward Victor Nirennold scored the winning goal with an excellent finish on the 60th minute.

Terengganu had 30 minutes to find an equaliser but failed to capitalize on that until the final whistle.

Terengganu is now placed sixth in the Super League table with 10 points, three points behind UiTM, four points behind second-place Perak and 12 points behind JDT. – Football Tribe, September 21, 2020
